What is X-Plane 8?

X-Plane 8 is a flight simulator using the blade element theory, which originated in the 19th century. Like the previous installments in the X-Plane series, the game is a realistic flight simulation, utilizing real-world navaids, airports, and planes. The game is bundled with tools to design and modify aircrafts, navaids, and scenery.

This version differs from its predecessor in the following areas:

Higher frames per second.

Higher resolution computer generated scenery based on Shuttle SRTM data.

3D cockpits with same detail and resolution as 2D cockpits.

New Aircraft format allowing for more wings, flaps, bodies and gear.

Version 8.40 for Mac is a Universal Binary and runs natively on Intel Macintoshes.
