Hippo-C

(There's no video for Hippo-C yet. Please contribute to MR and add a video now!)
What is Hippo-C? Hippo-C was the first C compiler for the Macintosh. It appears to be introduced by Wendell Brown of Hippopotamus Software at the Macintosh launch event in January 1984. (This is not well established but is based on a photo of Wendell Brown and Steve Jobs taken at the event.) This download contains a version of Hippo-C from September 1984. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get it to run successfully, even going back to System Software 0.1. Nonetheless, it is an important piece of Macintosh software history that needs to be preserved, even if it doesn't work. If anyone is able to get this working, please upload a fixed version or compatibility information on what System versions it will run on. Download Hippo-C for Mac
