What is The Magic School Bus Explores Bugs?

The eighth installment of the popular software series — based on the collection of books and the Fox Kids TV program — blends interactive learning and adventure to make the science of bugs fun for those ages 6 to 10. Constant action, terrific graphics and intriguing sounds ensure players won’t be bored as they try to recapture four bugs that have escaped from Ms. Frizzle’s classroom terrariums into their natural habitats. By exploring these habitats and learning about the bugs located within, players can deduce which one to bring back to the classroom based on clues such as color, eating habits, and mating practices. Within each habitat, players can also click student reports — exceptionally well done animated shorts that feel like a bona fide, albeit 60 second, Discovery Channel special. The software also includes 15 different games, including the entertaining “Bugs Are It,” where players can test their knowledge of what they’ve learned so far. Overall, the software uses great graphics, animated clips, and audio to make learning fun.
