What is GomerFun?

GomerFun renders a couple colorful patterns across the entire screen (altough, since resolutions in 1986 were not that high, some patterns obviously won't fill 1024x768).  Not much information available on this very old piece of software, but it seems to be alpha version 0.3 and seems like it can open/save a format of something that I could not determine.  There seems to be a ray trace and render function in the menubar.
